Competition rules
Dates
15th International Performers’ Competition in TUBA will be held in Brno between 27th September and 2nd October 2010 with the concert of laureates on 2nd October 2010.
Conditions for participation
The candidate will send the organiser a completed application form (including attachments, i. e. filled-in application form with personal data, contact, repertoire, photo and biography). Should more competition candidates apply for the competition than stipulated in the competition conditions the date of sending the application form will be decisive.
- 30th April 2010 is the competition deadline.
Application forms sent after this date will not be taken into consideration by the organiser. - Notification of acceptance to the competition will be sent to candidates by 5th May 2010.
- The candidates will confirm their participation in the competition by payment both the administration and participation fees no later than 15th May 2010.
The competition is open to candidates of all nationalities, up to 30 years, born on or after 27th September 1980.
The candidates are obliged to fulfil all conditions for participation. Should they not comply with them they will not be allowed to take part in the competition.
Basic information
There are three rounds. The number of candidates in each round is restricted:
| 1st Round: maximum of 36 candidates |
| 2nd Round: maximum of 12 candidates |
| 3rd Round: maximum of 4 candidates |
Candidates are obliged to enrol in person on Monday 27th September 2010 between 3.00 p. m. and 5.00 p. m. at the competition office at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (JAMU), Komenského náměstí 6.
Candidates are obliged to attend the draw of competition order that will be held on 27th September 2010 at 7.00 p. m. in the Concert Hall of the Music Faculty of Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts. The order of candidates will remain in force for the full duration of the competition.COMPETITION VENUE:

Anyone interested in participation in the competition should send the completed application form no later than 30th April 2010.

Materials mentioned above will not be returned.
Fees
The administration and participation fees:
- total 135 € - for foreign candidates
Candidates will confirm their participation in the competition by payment both the administration and participation fees (total 135 €) till 15 th May 2010 upon the confirmation of the acceptance of the application.

NOTICE!
Please note that it is essential that a confirmation of payment of the competition fees has to be sent to the organiser. The payment is not valid until this is received on the bank account. The payer has to fill in the variable symbol, without the variable symbol the candidate cannot be identified. Non-payment by 15th May 2010 will result in the candidate being eliminated from the competition. Candidates are obliged to pay all bank charges. The competition fee is non-refundable!
Cancellation of the competition
1. The competition will be held only if a minimum of six candidates take part in it.
2. Should the competition be cancelled before the competition deadline (30th April 2010), the organiser will be under no obligation to compensate the candidates for their costs. Administration and participation fees demonstrably paid will be returned to the candidates.
3. Should the competition be cancelled with reference to point 1, the following course of action will be taken:
a) neither the administration fee nor the participation fee will be returned to candidates who withdraw from the competition after the application deadline;
b) the administration fee and participation fee will be returned to those candidates who do not withdraw from the competition, but are affected by the provision on the minimum number of candidates;
c) should the candidate given in point 3b) have purchased a travel ticket / plane ticket, which is subject to a cancellation fee charged by the carrier when cancelled, the organiser will pay this fee following receipt of the original confirmation of cancellation. Should it not be possible to cancel such a ticket, the organiser will pay the demonstrable costs following receipt of the original document. The organiser will also pay demonstrable visa charges.
Accommodation
Travel and accommodation expenses for the duration of the 1st round will be born by the candidates themselves. Information about the costs and range of accommodation in the centre of Brno will be provided by the organiser on request. Competitors who proceed to the 2nd round will be reimbursed for the accommodation chosen by the organiser for the duration of their active participation in the competition. Prize winners will be reimbursed for the period up to the concert of laureates. Candidates choosing other accommodation will not be reimbursed. The organiser will arrange accommodation for other people but these costs will not be covered by the competition.
Concert performances for laureates
The competition organiser can arrange for laureates to perform with the following ensembles and institutions whose representatives reserve the right to select from among the candidates:
- performing at the Brno International Music Festival
- performing with the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra
- performing with the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra České Budějovice
- performing with the Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Králové
- performing with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava
- performing with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc
General provisions
All competition performances are open to the public. The organiser reserves the right to record all performances including the concert of laureates. Supposing the recordings are used for non-commercial purposes, no extra fee to the performer is paid.
